2022, live performance, 25 mins
Naz Balkaya and Giulio Dal Lago collaborated for the second time by producing a 25 mins long live performance for Softcore titled Their Blood. This a site-specific work entailing installations, live sound, video and sculptural pieces unfolding experimental narratives within the gallery space at Koppel X.
Via dynamic actions and interactions with the public, the two artists investigate the concepts of love and its precarious stability within a capitalist, fast-paced society that focuses mainly on productive and efficient models. Their Blood challenges the saturated, controlling patterns and neoliberal policies applied to our bodies and emotions via dominant bio-political relations that affect our everyday lives - so that we end up living in their blood. Ultimately, the work speaks also about the love-hate relationship for the city that these artists live in and have chosen as their home.
